Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

As a Mobile Disco What Functions do you attend?

In short, anything which requires a disco!. Our mobile disco has attended thousands of corporate and private events from Wedding Receptions, Family Birthdays, Retirements, Engagements, Christmas Parties, Student Nights, University Balls, School Discos, Barmitzvahs, Youth Groups etc. So whether you are looking for a wedding disco or a mobile disco for a family event then look no further.

How Long have you been established?

The Ultimate Roadshow was established in 1988, although Chris Pointon has been involved with mobile discos since 1987, and our second DJ, Richard joined us in 1990. We take our industry very seriously and all bookings are confirmed to our clients in writing. The Ultimate Roadshow is not an Entertainment Agency and is 100% owner operated, which means that we do not sub-contract out mobile disco work to other DJ's or work on a commission basis. This means that you deal with the same person from your initial enquiry right up until the end of your function.

We are very proud of the fact that a large majority of our workload, comes directly from the word of mouth recommendations of our previous clients to their friends, family and work colleagues - which is the highest accolade for our business.

What is included in your fee?

Our prices are fully inclusive. There are no hidden extras or additional fees (unless the function continues beyond the contracted period or additional services are required). We provide you with a professional Sound & Lighting rig, two vastly experienced DJ's, and a wide and varied music selection all tailored to your own requirements and those of your guests.

What music do you play?

We have a very comprehensive selection of music. This includes popular music from the last five decades including 60s, 70s, 80's, 90's, old school, Motown, Soul, Rock'n'Roll, along with the very latest chart & dance music tracks. As each individual has their own favourite era or taste in music we find that at the majority of functions with a mixture of all ages in attendance, that a selection of all types of music eras are welcome and often works well, although we can provide music entirely to a personal preference where requested.

At more formal functions suitable Low level background music is played whilst your guests arrive and during any Evening buffet or dining break. If required, request slip's can be placed on each table at the start of the evening in order to invite your guests to make their own request's to the DJ throughout.

We tailor our music to the age range of an audience, for instance, Chart & Party Music at a childs party or teenage function, to a wide and varied mixture of genres for Family functions and the more formal Wedding Receptions.

Can I choose the music that you play?

Yes!!, if you wish, you can submit a request list to us before the event. Most people, however, request that we play a wide and popular selection of music for an event where different generations of family members may be attending and may prefer to just send us a small selection of their favourite tracks. Please feel free to send us any special request's and we will endeavour to play them for you during the disco. When you make your music selection, please bear in mind the varied range and musical tastes of the guests who are attending your function and the timescale of the booking. We would recommend that any request list submitted by our clients is kept to under 30 tracks in order to allow for continuity and any audience requests on the night!.

I've Just been quoted £50 from another company can you match that?

Like any other business, prices do vary when you shop around. Our mobile disco prices are based on the highest of professional standards and the fact that we are experienced, update and maintain our Sound and Lighting equipment on a regular basis and operate a fully legitimate tax paying business complete with liability insurance cover. However, our prices do remain competitive and are well within the national average for professional mobile disco entertainment. If a price seems too good to be true then I would seriously research the reputation of any mobile disco charging as little as £50 and certainly ask for references.

A Mobile Disco can make or break an important event such as a Wedding Reception, and an inexperienced DJ or one who lets you down at the last minute may ruin an otherwise perfect day. By choosing your mobile disco entertainment based purely on the cheapest quote, may prove to be false economy in the long run, and you should always consider the many other factors when choosing a suitable Mobile Disco rather than taking a gamble and making your decision on price alone. By booking "The Ultimate Roadshow", you are paying for decades of experience and the peace of mind that we have covered thousands of similar functions.

How do I pay you?

We accept payment by either cash or cheque. Cash payment can be made when we arrive on the night of the function, or if you prefer you can send a cheque via the post to arrive at least 10 days before the actual function date. Account facilities are available to Venue Managers and other regular clients who make more than five bookings per month

Can You Set up The Mobile Disco Equipment Earlier in the Day?

This is quite a common question, especially for an event such as a Wedding Disco. We will always try and assist in this request, subject to notice and our availability. Since our Mobile Disco covers several counties, we do have to make a small charge for this service depending on the location of your venue.

Does your Mobile Disco have Public Liability Insurance?

Yes. it is now increasingly a requirement by most venues and hotel chains that any visiting Mobile Disco has Public Liability Insurance. The Ultimate Roadshow has £10 Million of Liability Cover and PAT tested Electrical Equipment which is more than the minimum required by venues.

Tip:- Remember to ensure that your Mobile Disco has public liability insurance and PAT tested equipment since those mobile discos without adequate cover and certification may be refused access to work at some venues and, should this occur, you may be left without a disco on the night.

Are you a member of any professional association or trade body?

The Ultimate Roadshow are the founders of 'DJ's United' - which is a social networking community set up over ten years ago in order for DJ's to swap ideas and continuously develop and improve the industry.

Do You Use Fog Machines or Strobe lights?

Yes, but only upon request. However we usually limit the use of these for teenage discos and young adult functions such as prom nights and high school discos, rather than the more general family age gatherings, since older age groups tend to find them intrusive and the use of these may ultimately spoil their enjoyment of the evening. We are happy to include these type of effects but upon request.. You should also ensure that the venue will allow the use of a smoke machine before requesting it's use as they can false trigger venue fire detectors.

There are no additional charges for the use of these effects where requested at the time of booking.

What are your fees?

Our fee is dependant on several factors, including the duration of the function and the distance we have to travel. The fastest way to obtain an individual quotation is to use our Online Quotation Form , all quotations are, of course, supplied to you on a no obligation basis.

I would like more information on booking you for a disco

Since 1988 we have covered well over 2300 events for all age groups with 10 - 1000 guests. These include Wedding Receptions, Family Birthdays, Anniversaries, Student Events, University Balls, Summer Graduation Balls, Prom Nights, Corporate Events, Awards Evenings, School Discos, Youth Groups, and Childrens Parties

We are always more than happy to offer advice, since we fully understand your anticipation, concerns and the workload often encountered when booking an important formal event. Rest assured that we have a 100% attendance record and an excellent reputation , and we are willing to work with you to ensure that your special day is exactly how you wish it to be - a great success!.

Can you work within a Marquee?

Yes, we have previously worked in hundreds of marquees of various sizes in various locations from private gardens to the grounds of large Stately homes and so working inside a Marquee is not a problem and we make no extra charge for these functions. All we ask is that a safe mains supply (or suitably generated power) is available to us within 15 meters of where we are to set up and that the marquee entrance is left accessible for a van.

Most marquee companies provide ceiling level & spot lighting within the marquee, however this can, on some occasions be too bright or intrusive during the disco later in the evening. In addition to our professional disco lighting, we can also provide additional suitable coloured background & ambient lighting if required, for a small additional fee. If you would like this service included in your quotation, please mention it on the enquiry form.

Do you provide discos for Teens and Childrens Parties?

Yes, we have a special mobile disco for Under 16's which includes Glowsticks, Smoke Machine and our highly popular foam based 'Snow Machine' which is a huge hit with the kids. Our Under 16's Roadshow is suitable for School Discos, Youth Groups and Children's Parties (aged 8+) and Teenagers, for more information on this type of function please visit our Under 16's Page . Sadly, for insurance reasons we are unable to provide entertainment for groups of very young children - where the guests are soley aged under 8 years.

Do you offer Karaoke?

Sorry - we don't offer this service, however we can offer a dry hire service of Karaoke equipment

Can I see you working at another Disco before I book you?

Since most of our workload is for private functions it would be very unprofessional of us to randomly invite along potential clients to view us, at any function which is an invitation only or a closed family celebration. We also respect the privacy of our clients and it would be unethical to pass on contact information to any third party without permission. However we are more than happy to pass on references upon request or to put you directly in touch with previous clients, who have offered to provide such recommendations.

How do I contact you?

First of all, please use our availability checker, to see of we are available for the date of your function, as we do get very busy especially throughout the Summer months during the traditional UK Wedding Season. If we are available for your function date, then the fastest method of contact is to supply your function details using our online enquiry form - we reply prompty to all enquires, with most being replied to within a few hours.
